Except
when men are in love, there is something communal about their attitude
towards women - nauseating, insufferable, lowly , born perhaps of the
secret realization that their physical superiority is too transparent a
cover for their inferiority elsewhere, as in their lack emotional depth.
But yes, I will stick my neck out and claim that men in love are far greater than men in general and, at least in some respects, a cut above women in love too. Whatever else a man might lack, there certainly is greater emotional profundity and dignity of conduct in him when he is in love with a woman.
And of course we are not talking here of men and women who confuse peevish and jealous possessiveness with grandeur which only love brings.
